To begin with, aspirants across the country cherish the dream of passing the IBPS PO exam to gain a job in major banks. Being a competitive exam like the UPSCaspirants are expected to work hard in a smart manner to clear the cut-offs while having a clear understanding of the exam pattern and other allied aspects. Hence aspirants have to give their best efforts to clear the exam while preparing for the same and thus here we have provided some points below which would be handy while you start in on your preparation:
The quality of answers is to be prioritised: While appearing for an exam of this level, one should be aware of the fact that if they are able to score at least half of the marks with around 90 percent efficiency, it would be more than enough to clear the exam.
Forget about being perfect in all areas: Aspirants should not bother about not being able to master all sections like Math as everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses and the section wise cut-off marks come in a range between 4 to 12 marks per section. Hence focus should be on working on the strengths while trying to reduce the weaknesses.
Focus on precision: Unlike other exams, there is a penalty for wrong answers and it would have a negative impact on the total marks as the scoring system is based on percentile and thus aspirants are advised to attempt those questions which they are fully confident of.
Accept the exam as it is: What happens in an exam like this is that most candidates follow a previous year cut-off by making it as their target and try to clear it within certain attempts irrespective of whether their efforts would go right or wrong. What they should do instead is to be better than the next candidates and not try to score around 80 to 90 percent. Hence it is advisable that they should not spend much time on questions they are unsure about especially when they are running out of time. When the exam difficult is at its peak, aspirants who are clever enough to pick the best questions emerge as the winners.
Be watchful: Aspirants have to be vigilant during the exam which would mean that merely by glancing through a section, they should be able to separate questions on the basis of level of difficulty (easy, medium and difficult). This would help them to attempt the easiest question first followed by the medium ones and then onto the difficult ones.
From the above points, it is clear that aspirants could clear competitive exams at this level if they plan and prepare beforehand in a way that suits them .Hence they should focus on doing their best and leave the results to their destiny.
